PassionArt : BE STILL (2016) was a visual arts trail that celebrated the ancient Christian festival of Lent through the mindful reflection of art in six of Manchester’s most iconic venues. Contemporary installations, paintings, sculpture and live performances by internationally renowned and local artists uncovered moments where the sacred inhabits the ordinary. Seeking silence and stillness in a busy city is a spiritual exercise that all can explore, religious or secular. Each art work in the trail was accompanied by a reflection and a praxis to help you engage spiritually and practically with stillness, prayer and mindfulness. Personal meditations from people of all walks of life around the theme of stillness and solitude can be found on our 40 days page, one for everyday of the season, to aid you in your Lenten journey.

Contact us to purchase a copy of our full colour 48 page BE STILL catalogue. Cost £4 each including postage and packaging

The exhibition was open from 10th February – 2nd April 2016

PassionArt is working with religious and cultural spaces across Manchester to hold exhibitions, discussions and gatherings that explore themes of liminality, the sacred and its relationship with contemporary culture and the human condition.

To extend the work of the PassionArt Trails we have partnered with St Ann’s Church Manchester in the heart of the city centre to create a series of pop-up exhibitions creating a conversation between spirituality, the arts and community using the mindful reflection of art to explore wholehearted living. These exhibitions will allow the Christian calendar to form a structure for the events although the art works will not necessarily be religious in nature, but aim to invite us to reflect on values that are common to all faith groups, helping us to live compassionately, peacefully and creatively in our diverse and exciting city. We are also working in collaboration with Manchester Cathedral and it’s arts progamme.
